So, imagine that there’s an online game that’s basically like Tamagotchi, except it involves caring for and feeding a bimbo, complete with messages encouraging plastic surgery and eating disorders. Now imagine that it decides to pivot to an MMORPG and democracy simulator while still retaining the bimbo motif, and even recently had its very own constitutional crisis.
Yes, this is real and I even had to check while watching this video that I wasn’t tripping balls.

Disney owns both the Predator and Star Wars franchises.

Jimmy Page did NOT play guitar on the Herman’s Hermits cover of ‘Silhouettes’ (it was Vic Flick).
This makes me a little sad.

Currently watching Zack Snyder’s Watchmen (the Ultimate Cut). It’s a good film, even if it has some glaring flaws, like the fact that Snyder didn’t have the bollocks to make it 5 1/2 hours long (thus covering everything), or the fact that some of the actors didn’t give a good performance, like Billy Crudup’s Dr. Manhattan, so thoroughly alienated from humanity to the point where he almost seems like a textbook case of Schizoid Personality Disorder, seems way too emotional.
Meanwhile, for a good-sized portion of the pre-production time, he was supposed to be played by Keanu Reeves. And knowing about how reticent he is IRL, how great his acting chops truly are, and being alive to remember that around the time the movie was filmed, public consensus of his acting was, well,
I’m still shocked that he turned the part down (apparently because it would have conflicted with the Day the Earth Stood Still remake). He would have been perfect.

Remember this scene from Mommie Dearest?
Well, it turns out that, speculation about Joan Crawford's early years aside (whether as reminders of a destitute childhood or a back-alley abortion that took her fertility in 1931) there are actually legitimate reasons for her to get pissed off at the use of wire hangers: namely, that they can create dents in delicate fabrics, and if the hangers start to rust, that rust can rub off on the fabrics and never come off. Given that she mentions that the dress that hung on the hanger in question cost $300, this might be a real concern. And that's not even getting into how flimsy they are. Still doesn't justify using it as an excuse to berate Christina. Whatever servant is in charge of maintaining the Crawford family's wardrobe, maybe, but not Christina.

Of course, Dirty Dancing is an abortion movie
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

In the 1960s Istanbul had basket men who were hired for the sole purpose to take patrons home when they were too drunk to stand up, like this guy.

The Finke river in Australia is believed to be the oldest river still flowing in the world. Parts of the Finke river have been flowing in its present channel for over 400 million years, that is to say it has been flowing in its current channel since many tens of millions of years before the very first vertebrate crawled out of the ocean onto land.
