Regarding Sister Cynthia: I'm not buying into the portrayal that there's anything wrong with her mentally. Was it the same with you?

My take is that she was pretty sheltered, and the attack was way beyond what she could deal with. At that time, I have to assume that depressive/PTSD issues were seen as a mental illness that could only be treated with electroshock.

She does have a bull in a China shop vibe about her. Give it time.

Oh, she quickly moved on. Still not a fan.

I didn't mention it at the time of viewing, but the female circumcision episode struck me. What makes it worse is the end where the woman still thought it was a good practice because it was another woman behind the knife instead of a man. Sure, it was narrated that she opted to not have her own daughter go through the process: progress can be slow, I suppose.

Indoctrination....luckily, she opted to stop that cycle.
Lots and lots of issues depicted in the series.

Last night, I watched Dean Martin roast Sammy Davis Jr. It was racist as fuck. I felt bad for those Italians and Jews. Dione Warwick brought the smoke.
If I had known in 1986, that 35 years later, I would have Tubi, I still would have bought a VCR, all the tapes, and recorded the same stuff. Easy math has never been my strength. I do laugh at guys who bought Conan the Barbarian on Blu-ray. Dumbass Doug.

Wednesday on Netflix. I’m not much of a Tim Burton fan, but this is pretty goddamn good.
And it doesn’t hurt that Jenna Ortega is a slammin’ hottie.

I tried watching it, and the first episode was interesting, but by the 3rd I lost interest. And it was also like watching a watered-down version of "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina." Sabrina was a much darker and more daring show.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I have taken a break from True Crime lately and have been watching shows on Nat Geo Wild that are about veterinarians.
