The whole pink-for-girls-blue-for-boys nonsense only dates from the Second World War. Prior to that, the nonsense was reversed - boys were traditionally dressed in pink (all shades of red were considered masculine colours) and little girls in either yellow or blue (feminine colours). The change is thought to be due in large part to the popularity of military uniforms.

Apparently, referring to your wife as ‘my sexy little bag of estrogen’ is NOT considered a compliment.
Who knew?

Because at her age there's probably no more estrogen.

Teletubbies episode ‘The Lion & The Bear’ (1997) was banned in 1999 after being considered too scary for its target audience (children aged 1-4). Parents made numerous complaints about the age-inaccurate music, scary voices, dark tone, dialogue as well as the ending chase scene.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

^as a PS. I watched the first season. I didn't recognize anything. My aunts and uncles would say the show is purely fiction, including the geography. One uncle was a surfer back before a bad car accident. Family has been there for more generations than I can count.
I have a series of books that were written by a guy who moved there years ago. Murder mysteries, all of them. One takes place in grandma's house. There are names and places I recognize in those books but I wouldn't consider them great literature. Just sort of cool that several family members make appearances.

I typically don't watch these types of shows, but it's one of those rare ones, I guess, that just has that special something.
Almost done with season three, and it's been renewed for a fourth season.
