"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

The town where I grew up shut down at 3 pm on Good Friday.  Every store, every business.  And since they rolled up the sidewalks at 6, nothing was open again till Saturday.  On Easter Sunday the only thing open was the privately owned drug store and that was only for a couple hours.

I didn't notice it until I looked to see what day of the week my son's birthday is on this year.
