This isn't the Ruby Franke thread but I figure there's slow news cycles and for right now, this is a big focus and bringing a lot of attention to the Mormon cult.

For the record, I doubt that Ruby's telling the truth, specifically because her partner-in-crime Jodi seems to have a habit of accusing people of heinous acts with no real evidence, claiming that Heavenly Father himself directly told her about these acts, and being such an adroit manipulator that she can convince people that she's telling the truth, even if they should know she's not. At least that's what her niece Jessie had to say about it. If she can convince an apparently kind and virginal Mormon girl that she was an evil sex addict with multiple abortions under her belt, I can easily imagine her convincing Ruby that one of her kids is basically Josh Duggar.
The additional claim that said child had been watching porn since the age of three is also sketchy. Katie from Down the Rabbit Hole at Bedtime said such a thing does happen (she's actually a nurse with a history of dealing with children who've committed sex crimes), but knowing that Ruby's notorious for denying her kids any privacy, it's kind of hard to imagine when such a thing could have taken place.

@ Rev. Rye Very much agree. I don't believe her either. She not only didn't allow them to have any privacy but also she was restrictive about monitoring them, never letting them leave the house to the point, several kids stated on camera they didn't have any friends.
I watched video where she told a story about laying down for a nap when her one daughter was 5 and her son was 3. She set them on the couch with a movie and told them not to get up AT ALL. She said she'd make everybody lunch when she got up. She came downstairs later and found them still sitting there but as she walked into the kitchen, she walked on the floor and it was sticky. She finally got it out of the 3 year old, that he had been hungry and he'd gotten up and gotten a container of pineapple out of the fridge. He'd accidentally spilled some and attempted to clean it up. Instead of thinking about how this was actually pretty impressive for such a young boy(albeit, he's not got the experience yet to realize fruit juice needs extra cleaning so it doesn't leave sugar residue) instead, she used the opportunity to not allow Santa Claus to come to their house this year.
THIS woman. This is the lady who's son supposedly SA'ed 20 neighborhood kids and his cousins all while 12 years old? Yeah right. They didn't do anything or go anywhere(even getting off the couch) without her getting on their case and banning them from good things they liked.
If there is any legitimacy to her claims, it doesn't absolve how she decided to treat the situation(where is the clinical recommendation of "tie the kid to the bed and starve them"? You won't find that suggested as a solution to ANYTHING, ever!), and it kinda feels like the maladaptive environment with twisted family relations could have contributed to that sort of behaviour(if it actually occurred, I mean). Not knwing how to relate to others, not having anyone else in peer group to learn healthy play and boundaries with, etc.

The closest thing I could find to “tie them up to their bed and starve them” being a valid solution is elephants going through musth. And even that’s considered too cruel for practice in the West, so it’s just done in India.

I could make a whole entire thread and go on and on about the shameless propaganda Sound of Freedom is and Tim Ballard and the absolute sham OUR is. Maybe another time. I'm too tired.
For now:

Mormon Church Denounces Tim Ballard’s “Morally Unacceptable” Activities
A church spokesperson tells VICE News that Ballard “betrayed his friendship” with a powerful leader, who “never authorized his name, or the name of the Church, to be used for Tim’s personal or financial interests.”
Quote:From the article
"At a meeting with Tim Ballard and a group of his associates, who claimed to have “visions and special intelligence of the second coming,” the former development director said, she was made aware that this venture had to do with God calling Tim Ballard to “restore America to the covenant.”
“Tim said multiple times, ‘It's his job to use the sizzle of the rescue to lead people back to the Mormon covenant,’” Lopez said, according to Purdy’s report. “Dave stated that according to Tim, that's what this is all about, that's why he's doing all the movies and all the storytelling. He believes the Mormon Church is actually doing that with him, that Elder (M. Russell) Ballard of the Mormon Church is working with him on that secret agenda. He believes that it's his job to be this famous kind of celebrity that gets everyone's attention, but then in turn leads everyone to Mormonism."
Lopez told investigators that Tim Ballard had developed a messianic view of himself. "Dave said he thinks Tim is fully convinced that he is supposed to be the 'Mormon Messiah and lead people back to the church,'" the report reads.
"Per the report, the woman added that, according to Tim Ballard, “restoring America to the covenant was ‘a big mission of his (Tim)’ and he was ‘called’ of ‘God’ to do this. She added that he was, in Purdy’s retelling, “very verbal about Elder Russell Ballard’s involvement and behind it” but added “that she didn’t know if she believed that.”
I wonder what the defenders of the film's "message" would have to say about Tim Ballard deliberately making it with the intent to convert people to the Mormon cult because god told him to.

Tim Ballard responds to condemnation from his own church

Fav: video of Tim Ballard saying "I don't believe the LDS church did this! I don't believe this came from the church! When has the LDS church ever publicly condemned one of their members?" interspersed with video footage and voice over of Fox13 getting this statement directly from the LDS cult's media relations guy.

Yeah. Turns out, Mormon cult doesn't like it when you try to paint yourself as the new Messiah of Mormonism and start receiving revelations for the church and the direction it should take. That's the job of the prophet, Tim. You are going at odds with the entire organization by challenging its chokehold on the funnel of truth. I mean, he MUST be delusional to be surprised.
