Should I pursue a Masters degree in computer science?

In Croatia, people who have finished the Bachelor degree in computer science (which lasts three years) mostly pursue a Master's degree (which lasts two years). I am afraid that, if I don't pursue a Master's degree, the employers would ask me why.

Fuck the Masters and the PhD.  Waste of time. Go straight for the Nobel Prize in quantum computing.

Whose Masters Degree are you pursuing?

Me? That was just after I retired from the USN, I'd worked a comparatively large amount of time on PCs and had fun. I thought "Computer Technology" sounded cool.* Turns out its Common Business Oriented Language and used by banks and the like. Dreary.

There is no harm in doing a Master's degree. It looks good on a resume and may get you a higher starting salary.

However, what matters is whether you can work for an employer, doing the work they need done. Will the Masters help with that? Have you ever had intern positions at a company?

Then what’s the problem? You had mental health issues during your first degree and you made it through. What makes you think it’ll stop you from completing your masters?

The problem is that I think it is very hard to get a job in this economic climate. The economy is, by some metrics, doing worse now than in 2020.

Many people fall for the debt trap of thinking a college degree is a source of employment.
