"The absolute horror..."

FYI It used to be a dry state, so going west you were glad to see a giant COLD BEER sign in Kanarado, just across the state line in Colorado. And Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri, are separated only by the Missouri River. Kansas cops used to set up "sobriety check points" on the west end of the bridges. Kansas State Police officers would buy tickets on airplanes flying over the state, not at all landing there, and fine the companies for selling booze "in Kansas".

I remember when KS loosened up its alcohol laws. It was illegal to sell hard liquor in a tavern *unless* it was membership based. So, all the drinking establishments gave out free memberships at the door.

Today I learned that Nicole Kidman's height matters not one wit to me.

I had to look it up, because when standing next to Jason Mamoa she was nearly as tall as him. Despite him being five inches taller. I figured maybe she was wearing high heeled boots?

There was a news article recently suggesting Ron Desantis wears lifters.

South Carolina same-same. "This is from a member's bottle." was heard throughout the state.

When I was bartending in SC we had to serve from airplane bottles.  No alcohol could be poured out of a fifth.  And it really screwed up drink recipes because the law said you had to use all the contents of the bottle so everything that had multiple liquors (like Long Island Iced Tea) was never quite right.  Before we moved they started allowing either free pour or metered guns like ones sodas came out of.

The reason for the change was that more companies were having meetings and conventions in the state and due to the little bottles, drinks were stronger than people were used to.  People were getting shit-faced on a couple drinks because they were getting a lot more liquor per drink.
