In 2020, sports magazine The Athletic selected Bugs Bunny as the greatest athlete in cinema history:
Quote:“If Bugs could play not only baseball but also every position, if he could help Michael Jordan beat The Monstars in Space Jam, if he could bullfight, box, wrestle, golf, ski, race Yosemite Sam from Alaska to Fort Knox, and, if you consider hunting a sport, never get the worst of it from Elmer Fudd or Daffy Duck, there is one logical conclusion: Bugs Bunny is the greatest athlete in the history of the movies.” Valid argument. Apparently, in Mormonism, you (read: every individual soul) apparently chose what life you were going to lead after you were born.
I discovered this about 30 minutes into this video: So, according to Mormon theology, Ruby Franke's kids apparently chose to have been spawned by their harridan of a mother. Yes, this is apparently a real belief that's used by Mormons to justify the shit their children had to go through.

Finally tested the eclipse glasses I ordered a month ago for tomorrow’s eclipse. And only just now did I learn just how much light they blocked. Namely, that they block out everything except for light sources, and even then, only if they’re sufficiently bright or undiffused.
This photo, taken with the eclipse foil directly on my iPhone camera lens, is a slightly less blurry version of what I saw with just my eyes. (Note: the room lights were also on, but they were too diffuse to register.)

Well, I kind of did that for my camera setup.
And, yes, I managed to get a 5-pack for less than $10.

Update: Eclipse glasses are good for watching the sun during an eclipse, but are kind of crap if you want to actually capture the moon encroaching over the sun. This picture was taken at 94% perihelion, 2:07 PM local time. Looking with my glasses, I could see an eclipse worthy of the opening of 2001, but with my iPhone camera and the eclipse glasses, I just get this.

I watched the 2017 in the path, watched today's on TV. Tele gave a far better image and we had lenses on binoculars.
