RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?

In 19th century Persia, mustaches on women were a symbol of beauty. Princess Fatemeh Khanum "Esmat al-Dowleh" was the daughter of King Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar, and one of his wives Taj al-Dowleh. Her father ruled Persia, modern-day Iran, from 1848 to 1896.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Gerrymandering at its best.
I’d have a wee Google if I were you - most maps of Europe DO include Russia. Lists of European countries always include Russia. Russia is always named as the largest country (by area) in Europe.
While you’re at it, look up ‘gerrymandering’, because you got that wrong as well.
Boru LOL.

I’m impressed that you can laugh out loud with that foot lodged in your mouth.

Today I met someone who fell for a simple gift card scam. She works for me for now. That will be changing in a bit.

Boru You folks include Scandinavia in maps of Europe because your map is rather square. No other reason.

Running a gift card scam?

Scandinavia is included on maps of Europe because Scandinavia is a part of Europe. No other reason.
I also see a Scandinavian country on the map YOU posted. Why do you think that is?

Norway and Sweden are contiguous with Europe? How?
Typically, Europe is defined as going east until the Ural Mountains. That includes parts of Russia, and all of Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, etc.
It certainly includes all of Scandinavia. So yes, Norway, Sweden, and Finland are contiguous with Europe through European Russia.
Most of Turkey is considered to be Asia, but there is a small part that is European.
That said, Europe is not contiguous since the UK and Iceland are not connected to the main land mass.

You didn't hear me laughing. WHY is a completely unconnect area part of historical Europe? (And the same for Hawaii and Alaska.)
