What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Opening my new knife. It's definitely not a Usuba, regardless of what the listing says.

My ice maker has been really finicky today. I'd replace it, but I'd hate to spend $175 when this one is sorta okay.

Just got home from Ravinia. We got to see Birdman live with Antonio Sanchez doing his drum score. Surprisingly, the drumming wasn’t as hard on my ears as I feared it would be. For what it’s worth though, I think that they might have somehow removed some scenes.

1) the scene where Sam’s explaining why she’s drawing tick marks on toilet paper.

2) this scene with Riggan and Tabitha.

Either I somehow managed to completely nod off during those scenes or they somehow managed to excise those scenes and STILL didn’t ruin the one-take aesthetic.

Edit: I just confirmed that Dad saw both those scenes. So I guess I just nodded off during those scenes.

Up early this morning. I woke up at 3:30 and just didn't feel like going back to sleep. Jasmine tea this morning.

Spent last evening planning out my Midwestern tour. If my health holds up after stepping down with meds as prescribed, I will be leaving the 5th of September and returning home on the 15th. I have hotel/motel reservations made and will be doing some work along the way. Next step will be firming up the travel route(s) as this will be another circular trip hoping to see my friend in Wisconsin, my sister (and niece) in the Chicago area, maybe visiting my hell on earth hometown in Iowa and possibly meeting Brewer on my way back to TX. I have an old HS friend who lives quite near him so that might be part of my trip too.

After COVID and then my health being shaky for the last year+, I am going to try to get out and see some people while I still can.

What a day! My daughter called this morning and wanted to know if I wanted to go to lunch for my birthday or have her bring lunch over. It was too early at that time for me to even think about lunch food...other than I going to start clucking if I eat any more chicken. I kind of blew her off but my friend said I should go. Called her back and suggested a Cajun place not far away so she came and picked me up. Just as we were about a quarter of the way through our meal, her phone rang. Granddaughter had been in a car wreck and messed the car up real good. I think she is just banged up and will be bruised...the car is a mess though. So we boxed up our food and took off to save her.

Got home and went to get the mail and Harley jetted out the front door like a rocket and began a romp through the neighborhood with me chasing behind her. I was afraid that she had gone into the wooded area where there are coyotes and snakes and all sorts of things she doesn't need to mess with. It's 100 degrees and I am too damned old to be chasing her furry little ass around. I came home and got the car and was driving up and down the street and alley calling for her. Finally someone from the other end of the street was walking her back to me. Apparently Harley ran around and up to the lady's little girl.

She is still panting, I am sweaty, and I am over this day!

Well that sucks, on many levels. Cars are replaceable, hope the grand-d is OK.

Back in the day I had a min pin that would occasionally bolt. The more I chased the more she ran. I finally figured out that if she saw me sit down and I acted like I was eating she'd come back.

That's what I told The Bail...the car can be replaced, she can't.  She will be bruised and sore but nothing was broken or bleeding so that's a plus.  I suggested she take some Advil and if she needs more, I have a prescription for a low dose of Flexeril if she needs it.

Harley is so damn fast!!!! Thankfully we live in a quiet neighborhood without much traffic.  I was surprised that my heart didn't go all crazy with the running and the heat so that's a good thing, i guess.  Sheesh, that dog.
