Actually, he hasn’t. The Court’s decision grants presidents immunity, not authority. This is an important distinction.

Granted. I have to think though that Biden could find a few military members and/or federal agents who would be willing to take on a covert assignment from the President aimed at eliminating national security threats. I'm not going to spell out the nature of the covert assignment(s) I'm talking about but I'm sure you can figure it out.

This may seem like an extreme and unethical act but under the circumstances, I don't think it is. With external threats, the President sends the military. They break things and kill people. It's justified by the righteousness and necessity of national defense. This is the same thing except the threat is from the inside.

Obama had two US citizens killed without any kind of trial or judicial review. They were out of the country at the time, but I don't think that makes any legal difference.

So if there's a slippery slope, we're already going down it.

Right. The Obama Administration claimed the authority. No one in the judicial branch or in any other official capacity opposed the claim to authority. They killed two US citizens with impunity. Therefore they de facto had the authority.

I hope this makes my point clear: these assholes are not "legalists" at all. Sure, they're educated in the law, but they only apply when it supports their views. And being at the top of the food-chain, they actually determine what is and isn't legalistic.

They had also given aid and comfort to an active enemy, in a jurisdiction where American law doesn't prevail.

I suppose in order to quench your thirst for propriety we could have asked Yemen to repatriate them. If they wanted the benefit of American justice that you pretend to extend here they were entirely free to surrender themselves and face trial in court.

They chose not to, and chose instead to proffer aid and comfort to the enemy. You buy the boat, you get the leaks.

If Trump is elected, what is to stop him from forming a federal agency or military unit which takes its orders directly from him? What is to stop him from personally selecting its members? What do you think he would do with such a unit or agency?

That's what the President told us. And since we always believe what Presidents tell us, then we don't need trials or judicial review.

They were actually in Yemen when they were killed, after posting videos online supporting AQ. Perhaps catch up on facts first?

Here, I'll humor you: Which American was killed unjustly, in your mind?
