Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!

RE: mastering foreign languages
I'm currently on holiday in Tenerife (Spain).  Earlier I went to a restaurant and was served by a very nice waitress who spoke very good English. Turns out she is German. So she is fluent in German, English, and Spanish (that I know of) and she's working as a waitress ! In England (maybe in USA as well) fluency in 3 languages would mark her out as highly educated and intellectual. In mainland Europe it is nothing special. Sadly I am English so, like most English  people I speak no other language beyond "tourist" French and Spanish.

I'm Australian.

These strange foreign devils around me say I'm barely proficient in English.

To this forum Polish would be foreign language so I can say that I'm able to use one. Otherwise it's still one - just swap Polish for English.

You write very straightforward English, Comrade Cat. Are you typing English right onto the keys, or do you use a translator?

I don't use a translator. It's too finicky and while my English might not be the best it is understandable I think.

That's really impressive.
