What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
According to the WMO (World Meteorological Organization), the longest lightning ever happened in 2017. It lasted 7,8 seconds and covered a distance of >500mi. It went from Texas almost to Kansas City. This was just recently determined by analyzing recorded data.
I wonder how much energy was involved.

Shrimp and other seafood sold frozen is what is known as Individually Quick Frozen.  The process is that first the seafood is quick frozen, and then they receive a coating of water and are quick frozen again.  This leaves a glaze of water/ice on the surface of the product, and that glaze prevents freezer burn.  Thus, individually quick frozen seafood can be stored and remain good for a much longer time, say up to two years.  The downside is that when you thaw the product, you don't want to do it in the bag it came in because that water will melt, and seafood tends to readily reabsorb that water which affects the taste of the cooked seafood.

I remember when there was a frost or a freeze in the forecast, Da would run the irrigation to put a protective layer of ice on the crops to prevent freeze damage. Same principle, I guess.

The modern broiler chicken weighing four pounds can be raised on eight pounds of feed in just six weeks. That's amazing, regardless of whether that's a good thing or not.

The term "broiler" was exclusively used in Eastern Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

American actress Swoosie Kurtz was named after the B17D Flying Fortress, which her father piloted during WWII. The plane was slangily referred to as ‘Swoose’, half swan and half goose.

There was a great video about 50 tips you didn't know for Clip Studio Paint. Good information; I'm going to have to watch it a few times. I'm gradually teaching myself digital illustration.
