Good luck! I generally cut my edge banding on the band saw. It takes a bit longer, but I don't get burning and the saw marks are a lot easier to sand away.

I'm going to bust out the drum sander this morning. That should make short work of it. Lots of dust, so it's getting done outside. Also, it would appear that I'm sensitized to oak. Going to have to cover up and use controls to minimize the dust from now on.

That’s unusual. Most sensitive reactions come from exotic woods - padauk, ipe, wenge, and suchlike.  I’ll never work wenge again without a hazmat suit.

Regarding your project, I’ve know people to make edge banding with a thickness planer. Seems horrifically wasteful.

Maybe it's just dust in general. Wenge I can handle, but for the splinters. I had a bad case of dermatitis and runny nose from a project I made out of bloodwood. Never again.

I can't imagine planing to get edge banding. I wouldn't want to run anything that thin through. I get enough snipe as it is. It's a benchtop job. I only need about 15 feet, so I decided to use one of the leftover boards instead of splurging on a 500 foot roll.

Gran canaria has a lot of caves. I explored the hills, past the homeless encampments, and beyond that is pretty much a city full of empty caves.

The only thing that spoiled it a bit is I ran out of water and had to turn back, and it started to feel like something from the hills have eyes or the texas chainsaw massacre. I still took the time to chill in a cave and eat some fruit and nuts.

I also learned how to speak and understand Spanish better after being there. I never get tired of listening to people speak Spanish. Fucking beautiful language. Im not even close to fluent, id like to get better at it.
