That and when you check what thread they're reading, it's always something random from 2017. Hardly sounds like the behaviour of your average curious atheist.

They're almost certainly bots of some kind.

Part of the problem is that we allow read-only access to much of the forum, so there's lots of content to crawl, index, whatever.

I am working on the issue, but unless I can produce a smoking gun it's going to be an iterative process.

I recall AD kicked the bingbot to a lower sample rate, after the management checked over here. They still have problems, but not as bad.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
