What do you mean 'only'? If it's a big one it's a big one.

Quote:But the tool doesn't cause the killing, the people do. It's not so much of a tool as a motivator Just like all those gun people believe "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." Even though I'm not a big supporter of guns, they hit the nail on the head there.

If you so strongly, zealously and passionately believed that shooting people in the head would make you go to a martyrs heaven and have eternal bliss, for instance - that's different to 'having guns'. Religion is not so much of 'tool' as it is a motivator.

People kill people WITH guns effectively and efficiently. A gun makes the 95 lb weakling superior to anyone without one. I suspect the recent victims near Pittsburg would disagree with you.

Don't con yourself with your own propaganda too much.

Bravo, sir. Well said, and a good argument. And welcome to the forums.

Theres a key difference between believing that shooting people in the head is martyrdom and believing in God. The people who are believed to shoot someone in the head to achieve eternal bliss are told this NOT by the scripture, but by a person. A person who manipulates that motivating tool to be used in a deadly manner.

Hmmm the Koran (scripture) says:

About unbelievers; "Take them and kill them wherever ye find them. Against such We have given you clear warrant."
And about the reward for such; "Fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward."

And the Bible (scripture) says:
For disobeying God; "And the Lord said unto Moses, The man [who was found picking up sticks on the sabbath] shall be surely put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones."

And what is the reward for obeying God?

Frankly I can't argue scripture in the slightest. I'm not one to know what was said and I should NOT have made that statement therefore I apologize. However, the argument is not in the scripture but rather in the beliefs. The faith acts as the motivating tool and depending on the leader controlling that faith, it can be used for good or it can be used for murder. It all comes down to the intepretation of the scripture based on the setting. But regardless of interpretation or scripture, what I ask for is respect of something so powerful. As I said, faith is like a gun that if wielded properly does great good but improperly causes great harm. Those who wield "the gun" are religious leaders or just leaders in general and if utilized, can either build a homeless shelter or stone a disbeliever. The blame for the action however is not on the BELIEF in God, but the person who led them to do such.

How's that a key difference? Whether you're motivated to kill by your belief in scripture or belief in a certain person, it's the same result, carnage. In these extremes of faith in such.

I won´t be back here but as a parting shot I would tell you that the little truth you have discovered hasn´t been enough to expand your vision and only a closed mind can be certain of anything. The odious mix of arrogance, immaturity and lack of insight has blinded you and I doubt the truth will ever set you free. Perhaps one fine day you will get laid and spend less time throwing your pathetic cyber-weight around. I wanted to purge myself of something, that´s why I sought out somewhere like here but it ended up just irritating me further. Over and out anorak boy
