Allegorically, it is 100% real.

I opened up to a Christian friend yesterday about everything I have researched about. The first thing he asked me was, 'so.. For example, do you believe Jesus healed the blind man?' I told him how the Gospels sometimes use the Greek word for 'therapy' and the fact that it took Jesus two tries to heal him. So for me that means he was simply a doctor performing therapy! When the book tells us then to go and 'lay hands on the sick and they will get healed' I see that as surgeons 'laying hands' on the sick.

Everything just becomes a tangible observation about the natural world, so answering your question, yes IOW it's all real, but not how the church sees it.

What he means is Jesus and his disciples would heal the sick by passing out pipes. This would help alleviate symptoms, not necessarily curing, but it would help. The blind man said "I was blind, but now I see". He just really means that his inner soul was opened up after he received his pipe. He was still blind, but at happy. We all just want to be happy.

I haven't worked out what Jesus is yet, but I don't think it was a literal person.

Plutarch, who wrote Luke-Acts, came from the Nazarenes/Essenes. The society called their teachings the 'Nazarene Way' NOT the 'Nazarene Way of Jesus'. Their rival, Paul, makes it clear that there was no real life person called Jesus because he was preaching his own doctrine which was about a spiritual Jesus.

From Merriam Webster:

Quote:Definition of ALLEGORY
1
: the expression by means of symbolic fictional figures and actions of truths or generalizations about human existence; also : an instance (as in a story or painting) of such expression
2
: a symbolic representation : emblem 2

Your problem is not going to be with me. Wait till the fundies get through with you!

I've heard there's a lot of that going on in this game. Maybe we ought to ask Ted Haggard.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

It's not me vs them, but them vs the authors of their own book!

Until someone can bring evidence forth that strongly suggests Apostles/disciples wrote the Gospels + Acts and not Plutarch and Josephus, then I believe every last drop of creationism is heresy based on the teachings of Christianity!

No, crack didn't come around until recently. The pipe is just used as a spiritual tool; what is smoked does not matter, as the act of smoking as a ritual is no different than yoga or meditation. All are good for the soul.

Bull fucking shit! If everything in the bible is "metaphor" then there is no need to believe one fucking word of it. I can find morality in Harry Potter and Dr Sues and Star Wars too.
