That is known as the "Pharaoh's serpent" reaction.
The starting compound is mercury thiocyanate, or Hg(SCN)2, which, when exposed to a heat source, creates a reaction that results in a coiling serpent-like solid.

Also, post more videos of weird and amazing chemical reactions if you've seen any. Big Grin

I liked that, were those your blue hands.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Isn't it amazing how a simple chemical can create complex structures when a bit of energy is added.

If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.

The guy just rubs the stick on the stone and it catches on fire so quickly? Interesting. I thought it would need a little more friction than that to create a fire. To me, it looked like he was just lightly turning the stick instead of rubbing it. And the camera looks away from the orange for a few seconds just before the fire begins. That made me more suspicious if that was fake or not.

But, it's probably real because orange oil is indeed flammable. Big Grin

Yeah, but that structure looks pretty simple to me. Tongue

Yeah, I have been wondering if it was a hoax too, but nevertheless it is cool, if it's real. Though, I have worked with some substances that didn't require much energy in order to catch fire, maybe the orange has some similar properties. Darn, I probably need to test it out myself in order to know for sure.

That's what I've read, too.

This one here looks more legit:

Notice that, even after directly putting the flame on the orange, it took him quite a while to light it up.

RE: Weird Chemical Reactions

Once again we have evidence of the callous nature of our blue handed controllers, working the web of evil over us. Was a moments thought spared for the irreparable psychological damage that would be suffered by those poor innocent cacti condemned to be used in that demonic experiment?
If ever the illuminati made their intentions plain this was it, the Pharaoh (eastern mystical hierarchical power of the pyramid), and the serpent (demonic forces) will burn away the home of the cacti, (do I need to point out the cacti is an American plant). And the fill the area with its own form.

There is no need to mention the significance of the blue hands of the sky god, or the white powder of faith.

You people have been warned!

Not necessarily weird, but a classic and certainly exciting.

You really believe in a man who has helped to save the world twice, with the power to change his physical appearance? An alien who travels though time and space--in a police box?!? [Image: TARDIS.gif]
