*ziiip*

*SLAP!*

Now I'm sorry but that had to be done. How the hell have you never played Goldeneye? Its like the father of all first person shooters, its part of gaming history.

All I remember is multiplayer and tons of proximity mines all over the walls.

Aha - proof positive that no-one (or at least, no-one above me in this thread) follows the "Post Funny Videos" thread. Gotcha!
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I did kind of see the video but I saw the chick with the red hair and thought "save that for tonight". Incase anyones wondering its the glassy eyed, dead inside stare that did it for me in the end. Huge turn on.

(Disclaimer: May or may not be joking.)

I suppose you could consider it that...

...if you exclude all of the first person shooters that came before it.

Oh wait... you probably mean father of all first person shooters for consoles. Sorry, having become accustomed to playing FPS games with keyboard and mouse, I don't play them on consoles. The gameplay experience sucks for that genre compared to the PC, IMO.

If you're looking for the father of all first person shooters, you're going to have to go a loooong way back further than 1997. In addition, there were far more influential games in the genre prior to that.

None of which could ever so much as dream of being allowed to hold a candle to GoldenEye. Not only was it being used to sell the N64 for the remainder of its run, I personally played it thirty-six hours a day. In fact I spent so much time immersed in that world that whenever I did venture out into town and catch the odd glimpse of one of our ubiquitous CCTV cameras, my first instinct was to pull out my silenced Walther PPK (which my real-world self has never owned) and shoot it out. I caught myself reacting like that for years afterwards.

I agree but that still means you played the ones that came before but when you saw Goldeneye with all the hype it had you went "Nah, I'm good."
The modern day equivalent would of been having never of played Halo. Now, its not the best game but the fact remains if you haven't played it at least once you're probably one of the Fritzle children.
