The Nuking of Japan
RE: The Nuking of Japan
So let me get this right Shell.

You think the correct response to japan invading all the countries of south east asia and committing incredible atrocities is 'Not invading and dropping bombs'

Why not read up on the rape of Nanking and then understand why whining about 'jap' being offensive is so utterly irrelevant

As churchill said (admittedly about the Germans)

" The have sown the wind now they will reap the whirlwind)

Peace is not natural. Given us or them, I will take us every time. It was a shame that it had to go down like that, but they brought it on themselves.

And yes, I believe all people are responsible for the actions of their respective governments.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.

Once something's been approved by the government, it's no longer immoral.

That fucking cracks me up. Why don't you read what I have written about the "rape of Nanking" and then tell yourself that ignorance is why I disagree with you. How does that phrase go? I've forgotten more about it than you know? Yeah, that's probably true in this case. I simply do not keep dragging it into it because that was in fucking Nanjing. It was not in the U.S., nor was it in Japan. You want to talk about irrelevant? Why don't we note that people keep bringing up an entirely different fucking war as an excuse. The best part is that they act like it was the excuse for the bombings when it wasn't, not in the slightest. It was ten years earlier, which might as well have been never when it comes to war. Why don't we discuss that the "japs" that are in Japan today did not commit any fucking genocides, so referring to them as "japs" while trying to insult them on the same level as Japanese people who lived generations ago is stupid. Why don't you just admit that we didn't bomb Japan because of the Rape of Nanjing, no matter how fucking bad you wish that was why? Comprende?

Keep using Jap as a pejorative. It only makes you look like a slovenly cow. You don't offend me.

It would be more like "They have sown the wind now they will reap the whirlpool," given that you're acting as if their actions in China is what led to the nuclear bombings.

Actually, it was Air Chief Marshal Arthur Harris who first said this publically about bombing the Germans, not Churchill

The difference is significant because Sir "Bomber" Harris was known even within Royal Airforce Bomber Cammand as "butcher Harris", for his fervent advocacy of attack upon civilians as the main objective, not unavoidable collateral, of the air war.

Thanks Chuck for that correction.

Shell I am so delighted that you rate yourself such a great historian. It must be so wonderful to be that educated. I only have a History Masters so I salute your PHD from a major world University.

Imperial japan committed atrocity after atrocity -not just in the Chinese but on captured Allied soldiers as well as any other vanquished people.

They are stlil in denial about it.

Of course I also don't think that today's japs should be atom bombed.

WHo says its an offensive term? Japanese people themselves or American professional whiners? Shortening a countries name is not offensive, 'Brit' is not an offensive term for the British

Slant eyed yellow bellied buck toothed tojo fucker however, probably is a bit offensive

Quote:What ended up happening with this fighter was that the allies produced aircraft that were the polar opposite of it's flight envelope.

Sorry, I was out all day and am just getting back to this now.

What mainly happened to the Japs ( Angel ) was that they planned for the wrong war. What they planned was for a quick, decisive, strike which would force the US to negotiate for peace. Yamamoto warned that this would not be the case but no one listened. Instead, they found themselves in a war of attrition with a country that was larger and stronger and with a much superior industrial base. They had no effective counter to the submarine menace. Once we got our torpedoes straightened out it was all over for the merchant fleet. They had no long range plan for replacement pilot training. The operational losses sustained in the first months of the war caused the quality of their air arm to decline quickly. Shokaku and Zuikaku were kept out of the Midway campaign because their air groups were savaged in the Battle of the Coral Sea. The pilots who might have trained new pilots were dead because of this samurai mentality in which a warrior was supposed to fight - not teach. American pilot training OTOH was a sterling example of how to do it in a long war. And, as has probably been mentioned above, the Hellcats and Corsairs were far sturdier designs than anything the Japs had.

Decent designs which Japan came up with later in the war were hampered by material shortages and could not be deployed in sufficient numbers to counter the growing US air arm, carrier based and land based. Again, even when those planes were available they were flown by pilots with little actual flight training time under their belts. To top it all off, the US had begun to use the concept of radar vectoring to intercept Jap planes and efficiently direct fighters to them.

Japan's failure was a top to bottom failing. They never had a chance no matter how much individual bravery individual sailors/soldiers/airmen showed.

Really? How much would you like to bet? I'm sure we can find a mutually acceptable way of doing this.

lets not mess about 5000 dollars US (ill happily increase it) says I have a Masters from a Major world University in History. Ill even make it easy.

My Two bachelors are from 1) Uk's Open University and 2) University of London (Birkbeck) My masters is from Lomsomov Moscow State university

Here is how this works. We nominate a lawyer (ill pay the fees) to hold 5000 Dollars from each of us in Escrow, then If I can't prove that I have a masters then I you keep the money. If I can prove it then I keep the money?

Sound good to you?

Oh I see . When you said 'ill bet' you didn't actually mean it .

You just wanted to accuse me of being a liar with no consequences.

Now put up or retract. random insults don;t actually make a rational argument.

What if I dropped the amount to 500 dollars? Any less than that isn't worth the lawyers fees.
