Yuuuuup. It certainly doesn't help that I like to learn stuff, so they tell me all kinds of stuff and I guess I'm still more naive than I thought

I've personally had issues with seeing things that are not real, but I learned to overcome them mentally and since 15 I haven't seen much except a random shadow/shape/shade out of the corner of my eye's that gives the impression of something being there.

I could tell you allot of creepy stuff that has happened but I won't because the human mind is capable of many feats we have yet to understand.

I'm glad you're doing better, I've heard that's pretty awful to deal with. Luckily I haven't had to, and I hope that you keep getting better

Seeing things that are not there, It is not just madness it is an ability that is useful. I am an artist and I have trained my mind to be able to imagine people and objects up in front of me visually, I know a lot of engineers do the same and will imagine accurate visualisations of machines when working through understanding them. As this is a not an uncommon ability, it is not surprising that a persons unconscious can conjure up realistic images too them. As your mother has an ability to make real images, and that your wife can do the same, you may find you can think in similar ways to your partner. Could you have this ability and instead of letting it go to wast you could you find it useful, control it and use the ability examine things at a distance.
