Only for as long as it's adherents were able to kill, torture or oppress those who questioned or disagreed with it.

Now... not so much.

If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.

Thank you Mister Sir Poe, but I prefer the honorific 'miss'. Tongue

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Your 'debating' tactic appears to be 'present assumptions as if they were established fact'.

How do you know any of these things, Christian? What incontrovertible proof do you have that the bible is factual?

I usually don't use references from our Good Book - Bible while debating here. Reason for this is that I don't want to see myself trying to proselytize others. It's against the rules here, I suppose and I want to really discuss things within the confines of the rules. That being said, you all do realize that the True Word of God has stood the test of time so in rare cases, I may need to reference the Good Book.

Since you've been absent a good many months, I think you should know that the rules concerning inappropriate preaching have undergone revision in your absence, and what qualifies as against the rules is much narrower than it was when you left. It sounds like you have personal reasons for avoiding the practice, but regardless, you would be well advised to update your understanding of the no preaching rule.

And we know circular reasoning is good because Pizza is in a circle and Pizza is good. Plus good - o = god.

Can you believe that music is actually called "Entry of the Gladiators"? It's got to be the least gladiatorial music ever written! In fact, try having that music playing next time you watch Gladiator or Spartacus; if there's a quicker way to take all the machismo out of the arena scenes, I'd like to know what it is.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Excuse me but what test is that? That ignoramuses still think it was really written by fucking "god?"

Your bible reminds me of something I wrote many years ago to another fundie numbskull. I called it "The Tax Fraud Analogy."

In essence, it works like this.

Picture a courtroom where a man is on trial for tax fraud. On the witness stand is the lead auditor from the IRS - or whatever the English equivalent is. The witness details that he examined all of the entries on the tax return in question and the defendant could not provide a single item of substantiation for any of the entries he made. No cancelled checks. No invoices. No cash disbursements. No receipts. No nothing.

At this point, the defendant jumps up waving the tax return which forms the basis of the indictment and screams "you're wrong...its all written right here."

That's you and your fucking bible, pal. You can't back it up with any tangible evidence but you think all you have to do is wave it around and it magically means something.

Well, it doesn't. It's a pile of shit.
