Italian Defence Minister Ignazio La Russa on the crucifix in the schools

Italian Defence Minister Ignazio La Russa on the crucifix in the schools
The European Court of Human Rights ruled that displaying crucifixes in Italian classrooms violates parents' rights to secular education for their children. The Strasbourg court found that, "The compulsory display of a symbol of a given confession in premises used by the public authorities ... restricted the right of parents to educate their children in conformity with their convictions."Worship

As part of the show "La vita in diretta", RAI1, the Italian public tv, aired a discussion about the crucifix in state-run schools. Right after this segment, Italian Minister of Defence Ignazio La Russa, referring to those who had just spoken against the presence of the Catholic symbol in public schools, says:

"And anyway will not take off the crucifix. They can die.
The crucifix will remain in all the classrooms of the school, in every public classroom.
They can die. They can die, them and those fake international organizations [European Court of Human Rights],
that have no value."Confusedhock:

I can't post links until I have 10 posts, anyway the video is shared on YOUTUBE with the title: "Italian Defence Minister Ignazio La Russa on the crucifix in the schools".

I never did get why the machine used to torture people to death was taken as a symbol for the faith.
They should have stuck with the fishes, much less divisive.

As Bill hicks said 'If jesus came back the last thing he'd want to see is a crucifix'

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

That video is funny, notice how all the fanatical audience members applaud his words. I like how he stated right after they can die that it's a matter of civility lol. Even when I was a Christian I did not revere the cross, simply because I believed at the time that it was not the cross but the man that hung on the cross that brought salvation. Not to mention that crucifixion was the common method of execution in the Roman empire so it's not like Jesus was the first of three men (Jesus and the two thieves) to die by crucifixion.

I understand what you mean... but for me that I live in Italy this video is very sad.
The defence minister Ignazio La Russa can say (on live public TV) that nonbelievers "can die", and nobody politic disagrees.Angry

I agree, it's disgraceful that a political leader would act that way in public.

Christians put so much stock on the physical sufferings of the fictional Christ on the cross. But I feel that holocaust victims and many other victims of the church itself in the dark ages suffered physically way more pain then Christ could ever have imagined if he were a real person. (Notice my emphasis on not believing in an historical Christ)

They should have put this Christ guy on the rack and use thumb screws on him then burn him alive then I would say Damn!! The Lord has suffered greatly to obtain our "salvation".

He is about to be honoured by The Vatican with an ante mortum cannonisation,as St Guido, defender of the faith.
