RE: Palin in 2012!
I am an American but I don't vote Oooooooh. I don't waste my time with false promises and politics I just live my life to my satisfaction and fuck everyone else basically (how selfish of me!!). Just look at who runs the political machine, mostly lawyers who as anyone knows go to college to learn to earn a degree in lying. I believe most politics is rigged and that the whole voting process is just an illusion to make you the citizen feel some sort of control in your countries political decisions and laws. But in the end governments do what they want to do.

Regarding Americans being stupid enough to vote for Sarah Palin all I have to say is that they have proven how stupid they are by voting for Barak Obama.

Oh look! A bandwagon! I want on!

Americans have proven their stupidity by voting for (insert name of past or present American president here).

Am I one of the cool kids now?

I agree with CP. All of them are professional liars... sorry, I meant lawyers, which tells me everyone of them are motivated by self interest, to hell with truth.

Every damned one of them.

I voted once in my lifetime, once. It was for Ross Perot.
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Americans are stupid. Bush is living proof. It's not lawyers in charge of Washington, it's lobbyists and money.

Meatball I have always said that you could put Jesus Christ himself in the White House and it will not make a bit of difference. Our politicians have their own ideals and agendas and unfortunately we as citizens are not privy to what they are. But one thing has been proven throughout our history and that is that when you take office and you go against that agenda you are asking for trouble. In the old days they basically had you assassinated but today they use other methods particularly character assassination and other sleazy methods to discredit you with the rest of the country.

I too have only voted once in my lifetime Dotard and that was for Bill Clinton during his first campaign for president. That was the first and last time that I voted. I compare our government to communism by stating that the only difference is that communist basically make their own rules and don't give a shit about what the citizens think. While our democratic government (U.S.) tells its citizens one thing and does the complete opposite while at the same time lying to us. Basically they put who they want in the White House if he gets out of line they begin working towards getting his ass out of there.

I totally agree with you in that politicians, especially at the top level, are guided by more than constituency and morality.

I just think that you need to choose the lesser of two evils. Barack Obama was the least of all evils running for POTUS. It matters. Obama might not be the revolution his campaign had people thinking he was, but he's a hell of a lot better than McCain or Barr or whatever fringe parties are running.

There are good honest politicians who talk the talk and walk the walk. Look at Barney Frank or Ron Paul. These guys are on opposites of the political spectrum, but the one thing they have in common is that they truly fight for what they believe in and their voting records show for it. These guys don't follow the party lines, and they fight "unwinnable" fights because it's what they beleive in, not because they get campaign donations from the people it benefits.

If more people became politically active beyond watching cable news and reading Digg, we'd have much better representation.

Too many people honestly don't realize that you don't have to accept what the party hands you. It's appalling that people aren't protesting in the streets for the way Michelle Bachmann represents them.

It's true Meatball that there are politicians that swim upstream against the current, but as you stated they are fighting unwinnable battles. Obama is doing a horrible job as president so far and although he did inherit one hell of an economical mess when he took office he is just making it worse. Government wants to expand into the private sector and here in NYC they are talking about taking over public transportation services.

The so called health care reform is a ridiculous plan that considering our economic crises I don't see any way possible that it can be carried out effectively without digging us into a deeper hole. They spout all of their false statistics about how things are improving but for those of us in the trenches such as myself I don't see it. Obama is trying to create programs with no money or funds to work with. By printing more money all he is doing is inflating the economy even more and dropping our country into a greater depression.

IMO Chatty's right, democracy is a shiny coating on a nasty reality. Don't go thinking it's any better over here, where we're being swallowed up by the European Union despite the wishes of almost the whole population.Devil

What we need is Michael Palin for president.
