recommend a good antipsychotic?
risperdal works amazing for my mind but god damn it the side effects are becoming unbearable, i get trembling and my appetite is like 99x increased and i've been on and off it for over a year but i can't take it anymore Angry

I tried also abilify which did nothing, seroquel which kinda helped but also increased appetite, safris which made me puke, and geodon which made me go insane. As far as antidepressants and mood stabalizers, I see 0 effect with the several that I have tried.

Hoping i can get a Dr. Appointment this week, but its tough because I am guessing she isn't very experienced, she always asks me which med I want to try next so hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Please help, can't take it anymore, thanks

This really is something that should be discussed with your doctor and everyone is different with medications.

That being said, perphenazine works with me and has little to no side effects. I was on risperidol and hated it.

To be honest, "what med do you want to try next" is what the ones who DO know what they're doing will ask. The problem is that medications don't react the same way for everyone. There's a reason there's like 100 different medications and it's because brain structures and chemistry are all very widely varied. The worst doctors are the ones who are like "LEMME STICK YOU ON 500 MILLIGRAMS OF LITHIUM" and shit like that, cuz they're the ones typically being endorsers of a certain pharmaceutical company's product. The ones who are like "Well, it's up to you what we try next" are the ones actually trying to help.

Please don't ask for medical advice on this forum. We've had some seriously big assholes in mental illness threads.

Like others said, go to a doctor. You should not experiment with meds

As others have said, what's going to work for you is a highly personal thing. I have adverse reactions to Abilify, and can't tolerate Seroquel but there are those that swear by both. I had success with Haldol, but there are those who hate it too.

There's a lot of trial and error involved, unfortunately. I don't know if I finally found the right combination, or if my symptoms just abated. I've been med-free (under medical supervision) since December 2011.

Hope you feel and what you need. It can be a frustrating process.
