I don't dispute that all the DNA is there at conception. It makes no difference to me. Do you know that there's a procedure they do when screening embryos, where they extract a few cells out, and test it for diseases? Do you know that the cells they extracted have all the information and will grow to be a baby if it were implanted and delivered? Do you know that they don't, and they only implant the "original" embryo?

Because humans don't value the lives of animals. Aaand, why do we not?

I respect animal life more than human life, but that is just me.

OK, I'll go slower.
There is a difference between being a life form and having rights as a living being.
The distinction is based on having a brain, which is what allows us to experience reality as a thinking, feeling, self-aware being. The human fetus does not yet have a brain, so it is not a being.
Were it not for that distinction, every time you scratch your nose, you would be committing a genocide of human cells that would rival the atrocities of Hitler and Stalin.
Again, the formula isn't hard to follow.
Brain = being = rights.
No brain = not a being = no rights.
Clear?

When it develops a brain.
Thought I was clear on this point.

That still doesn't address the point that science attests deist paladin. Any cells you might dislodge from your nose are not a potential unique human being. They are a redundant part of an existing human being that need never amount to anything.
A brain might constitute a legal 'person'. But you know that a person is being prevented after conception has occurred and you deliberately terminate it.

fr0d0, do you mind clarifying your position? Are you ok with abortion if baby has serious handicap that will affect baby's life? are you ok with abortion if rape? or abortion if incest? in other words, do you have exclusions, or is it all no-go?

Because we only value human life. We would be acting like human life had no value if we didn't. Life has to propagate itself. It's a survival instinct.
We judge it morally wrong to take life without good reason. Why?

Yes they are with cloning technology. It would be a twin but we've already discussed how that doesn't make you any less of a being.

Maybe. Maybe it would be miscarried or a still born. As previously mentioned, "Definitely and right now" trumps "maybe someday".

I'm OK with all justifiable reasons for abortion. There are many grey areas, which are the decision of the parents to make.

Devil's advocate:
Why are you OK with abortion in the case of rape? If you really do believe this is a living being with rights, why are you OK with punishing the "child" for the sins of the father?
/Devil's advocate.
The fact that you would allow abortion in the case of rape indicates to me that your motive is really not about rights to life. It's about sex and the use of abortion as birth control, isn't it? And you think that the law should prevent such choices being exercised when you deem the choices to be "immoral", no?
