Well, here are two interesting developments. I am somewhat annoyed that I had to learn about the first from the BBC. Apparently the American media is too concerned about Lindsay Lohan's rehab trips or the royal fucking baby.

The Obama administration is to unveil a major reform of the criminal justice system, dropping mandatory minimum sentences in certain drug cases.

And, even better, some judge finally told the cry-baby cops "NO."

The reason they are answering them is because having wasted a shitload of public resources creating these commando teams the cops just feel compelled to use them at every opportunity.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Back when I was in the 82d, a soldier in my batt had his arm shot to shit in a MOUT live fire exercise. (All that is is room to room close quarters combat...ala SWAT.) Even then I thought if this can happen without the fear of an enemy, what would happen with one around?

These SWAT teams train hard to be effective, but eviction papers shouldn't be presented at the business end of a M-16.

It is not the police's job to punish.

And it looks like they felt entitled to do just that.

Already the newsie in the video has determined it is against department policy to tase someone if a fall is a risk.

And due to the need for oxygen and blood flow to the brain choke holds are also not standard training.

But dropping his head down each step as if he was a sack of fecal matter just shows the contempt the police hold for the general public.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) - A 107-year-old man was killed after SWAT officers shot back at him during a standoff at a home, police in the southeastern Arkansas city of Pine Bluff said Sunday.

Pine Bluff has about 49,000 residents.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) - When the time came to move 107-year-old Monroe Isadore to a new home, police say he resisted and barricaded himself inside. Authorities tried using a camera to monitor him, along with negotiating tactics, and finally gas to get him to come out.

None of it worked.

So, a SWAT team went inside and was greeted by gunfire, authorities say. The team fired back, and Isadore died.

Which raises the question of why a fucking SWAT team was needed to deal with a 107 year old man who was alone in the house? Oh, yeah... look at the picture.
