I can tolerate a meaningless statement of "In God we Trust" versus a useless figurehead.
So does your money change every time a new monarch inherits? Yup. A complete rebranding, courtesy of the tax payer's valuable money. I wish we had a system like the US. Putting old (good) leaders on your money is better than an unelected bloodline royal.
Hey, then we could have so many more famous people on our money! Darwin, Shakespeare, Newton, Dickens, Agatha Christie, Churchill, Turing, Faraday, Hawking...the list goes on!
By my count, there are 4 notes which could have 2 famous Britons on each, and 7 coins that could have 1 on each. Ahhhh...one can dream.
We have Rutherford on our $100 bill
The queen is just on the back of our ones

LOL..
Adrian, at least your money has color to it....
The mints here finally started adding a little bit on the 5 dollar and 20 dollar bill... I also believe the 100 dollar has a little bit of color.... However, it's no where near as elaborate as yours.....
Intelligence is the only true moral guide...

I care less about the colour and more about the face of the unelected bitch which tarnishes it.

"I'm still trying to get the Queen's head off our currency. Long battle ahead"
Hey, us too! We only have to put up with her on the $20, she is off the other paper money. She is on the twonie (two dollar coin). Our Prime Minister just snapped at Michele Jean, our Governor General, because she is not Canada's head of state (as she stated), but the Queen is.
I am kinda surprised to see you railing against her, it seems like we might actually agree on something. Long rue the day. We do have a bill with kids laying hockey on it, very cool. I am trying to see if they will modify the $10 that says 'helping the world in the service of peace'. We don't peacekeep anymore, and have joined the Americans fighting for oil and opiates, which I don't think counts.
I am of Irish decent, so my hatred of the queen is full grown. Maggie Thatcher, may your cold heart burn in hell. There is a proud history you could display in Elizabeth's stead.

I hate any enemies of freedom, and an unelected head of state is unequivocally such a person. A true supporter of freedom would abdicate and make the position of head of state an electable one.

Isn't the elected head of state technically the Prime Minister?

Nope. The Prime Minister is the Leader of the House of Commons and the Cabinet. The head of state is the reigning monarch.

Okay.
But it is just a meaningless title, right? She can't actually do anything to affect law, can she? All I know is concerning international matters, the queen is a tabloid and the PM is the one concerned about when it comes to politics.
Regardless, even though her power is virtually non-existence I can understand fighting to remove her. Don't taxes pay her?

The Queen can effectively veto anything passed by Parliamentary vote, although it is doubtful she would ever do so since she would most likely have a revolution on her hands (so obviously I hope she vetoes something).
She also has the ability to disband parliament for general elections. She can't be prosecuted for any crime (since they are *her* courts). She doesn't need a drivers license, and technically she can dismiss her Prime Minister is she wishes.
Yes, she is tax-payer funded, although her family own businesses and land so it's not like she actually needs it. I'd personally much rather prefer a system like the US, with a President, Congress, Senate, etc.

With the way Congress is running lately, you might want to rethink that. e_e
