Waiter! An order of Pascal's Wager, with extra cowardice! Hold the imagination please! Thanks!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Of course everyone is entitled to give their own meaning to their lives, but I find it sad and pathetic that your life is nothing without your imaginary friends.

Quote:I believe in God and I also believe in Jesus Christ, and that He is God, and I also believe in the Spirit.

Yeah. If you'd been born in Saudi Arabia things would have been a little bit different, now wouldn't they?

Quote:Now this is what I ponder, if I'm right, and God does exist, if Jesus Christ truly is our Savior, then when I die, I will be in paradise, enjoying the riches of God's kingdom for eternity. If I'm wrong, I lose nothing, because if God does not exist I consider this life nothing.

You worship a monster. They say Kim Yong Un is a great leader. Just because all North Koreans are brainwashed into thinking so, it doesn't make it true. And Pascal's Wager is a dud anyways.

Quote:Now if an atheist is right, and there is no God, he gains 70 years (a tiny blip on the radar of humankind) of being right, and will soon fade like other countless generations.

Yup. When I'm dead I'm dead. I'm not going to have any regrets or afterthoughts to what life might have been or what legacy I might have left behind, because.. you guessed it! I'll be dead.

Quote: being consigned to a fiery lake of burning sulfur for not accepting the love and forgiveness of his Father in Heaven. To me, accepting God and following Him is well worth it.

No, it isn't. Don't you get it? Apart from heaven and hell to be nonexistent, the mere idea of them is utopian/dystopian. Your hell is my heaven, to spend eternity with the likes of you is the biggest and worst punishment I can imagine.

Quote:I can't pretend to understand our God, because if our God could be understood, then He couldn't be God.

Right. Yet you and your ilk judge, kill, hate and whatnot in said god's name, because your god told you to and you're justified. Not to mention all those who have a 'personal relationship' with their god, presume to speak for it, when all they do is speak their own twisted minds.

Quote:One thing i can say is that this world is full of sinners, of whom i am the worst.

Sin is a man-made concept and only a way to control gullible followers.

Quote:And though disaster has ripped through my own life and continues to eat at me, i swear to you it has prepared me, prepared me for the hardships i face and continue to face. My life has been far from what some may consider "perfect," i have often drifted away from God. But i have trusted in God throughout it, and my life has been saved many times from death.

And yet, there are many of us who have gotten through (or are still in the process) of personal disaster, who have gotten through it without the help of Thor, Galadriel, Väinämöinen and Harry Potter.

Quote:I've witnessed incidents that this earthly realm just cannot account for.

It's foolish to assign your own inability to process some data from the outside world and leap to the conclusion that 'goddidit'.

Quote:I'll admit, as Jesus' disciples did thousands of years ago

Or did they? Don't talk about the bible as an accurate historical chronicle.

Quote:i believe almost any logical thinker would not fully rule out a Creator.

I can agree on this, though you have the burden to explain and provide proof of why your particular desert god is the one.

Quote:Even if you believe there's a 1 in 10^70. To me that chance is worth taking, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I refuse to believe that this is it.

Once again, Kayenneh's wager: "If there isn't substantial proof to as which of the gods are real, it's better not to fool yourself and believe in any of them at all."
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Yes: it's full of flat, stock characters performing rote actions, with a magic system that it literally a deus ex machina. Tongue

Not to mention the contradictory nature of the lead character...

He/she has openly admitted that they are unwilling to admit or accept being wrong. So this is a one way conversation.

Yet, if that is all there is, isn't 70 years the entirety of existence? So the atheist gains the entirety of everything there is to have whilst you wasted it.

What a horrible religion that would make you think so little of yourself, that denies the credit for the slightest good thing you do yet blames you for being a "sinner."

You think you are the worst sinner, or so you say. Honey - you ain't even close. Don't let your religious guilt tell you otherwise. You are a human being, as valuable as any, and the contribution you make to your species is entirely up to you.

That part shows the most imagination of all! A two-faced character who turns out to be three characters in one! So is he really three-faced, or six-faced? OH THE SUSPENSE!!!

That's fine, but don't push your inadequacies on me.
