Geigenwerk (bowed keyboard)

Geigenwerk (bowed keyboard)
The media is saying this is an instrument designed by Da Vinci but it isn't. What Da Vinci came up with was closer to a hurdy hurdy than a harpsichord size keyboard instrument. The design of the instrument goes back to the 17th century. One was built in the mid 18th century and was played by CPE Bach who wished that the instrument would become popular. Like a clavichord, you can do vibrato (bebung) by wiggling the key.

I think it sounds great in the lower registers.
