tor, if it matters, I'm pretty sure what is actually the case is that TC does not believe in God. The reason why he says he does is because he thinks that if it were the case that he DID believe in God, that would be a good thing. So he WANTS to believe that it is the case that he believes in God, so he says that is the case.

This is a really common thing, by the way.
