Oh no! Books change to reflect that people are learning! How can this science book be reliable if it doesn't stick to its guns and keep all the demonstrably false information and insist that it's true even though we can all literally prove that it isn't!
Learning new things is bad! hock:
I actually get it too often. One dude said that science is false cause it changes. And truth never changes. So that which never changes is true

Yeah, I'd like to remind the court that I asked Rev nine pages ago to let us all know what it was he found compelling about this movie, and we've gotten officially nothing.
He liked it so much he's willing to pay for our ticket, but not enough to tell us why he liked it. I get the feeling those reasons wouldn't last very long in an environment of critical inquiry, it's no wonder he's having to keep them safe.

Your implication here is that the bible doesn't change. However that is spoken in ignorance too.
The bible stories were generated in an era of competing scriptural authors. It was a gathering of diverse writings and slapped together by violence and political intrigue.
No biblical scholar that isn't stoned out of his head would say that it passed through history unchanged.
Not only that, the book itself is so erratic and vague that it has created thousands of differing interpretations that has resulted in thousands of sects. Each believing that "they" got the true message that the bible god magically imbued into the pages.
Science books are changed mostly by better elaboration and occasionally by new interpretations of observed phenomena. Since they do not lean on authority but rather observation and investigation, they do not suffer the misinterpretations and vagaries that the bible does.

I said you and a guest.
The film isn't showing here in Sweden, but me and my friend are dying to see it. The trip to the US will be all expenses paid, of course?
You are saving a soul after all. I will need 500 dollars for initial expenses. Do you need my account information?

The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one hock:
Let me ask you this, do you follow the Bible to the letter?
It hasn't changed since...wait...let me see...

Of course not. Sweden lacks the ready-made audience of rubes and dipshits who would think this ham-fisted, terminally dishonest exercise in propoganda is remotely good cinema.
When it comes to the Big Questions and existential dread, Sweden gave us Ingmar Bergman. The American Christian film industry has given us the likes of Vic Sarin and Harold Cronk.
But Rev loves it.

He loves it, but he absolutely will not tell us a single detail of it. Either he hasn't actually seen it and is recommending it based on the trailer and the mean atheist professor in it, or "I like it because it bolsters my faith and confirms my pre-existing belief that everyone who disagrees with my position secretly agrees with me, but says otherwise due to a need to persecute me personally because of beliefs that we both share, but they won't admit ti," won't be such a ringing endorsement here.

I'm going with "hasn't actually seen it" because option B demonstrates a minimal attempt at engagement (and unwitting honesty) that is not in keeping with his M.O. to date.

So as long as I think I'm about to die, just say a few magic words and it will make me feel better? Is that the point, seriously?
