'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom

I would put it in a different way.
The tree is rather happy to give the fruit away.
After all the plant produce fruit so those who eat them
spread the seeds around.
In this way the tree will fulfil his desire to see his "children"

Please please tell me that you believe we should also start pooping outside to spread fruit seeds? Say yes! SAY YES

Gee, this question left me speechless.
I never thought about it.
I will consult and confer with high authorities
in the field and then come back to you.
I do apologize if i can't answer this difficult and important question straight away. Worship (large)

I gave you links to a number of articles, including some about genetics, which showed that humans adapted to being omnivores etc. You dismiss anything which conflicts with your religious beliefs as 'just guessing'.

I'm a vegetarian and so are my husband and a couple of real life friends. Are we rednecks because we don't insist that humans aren't designed to eat meat?

It never works but they keep on trying.
Nothing new under the stars. :confused-fall::):confused-fall:

This is hilarious coming from the idiot who ignores scientific consensus and pages of evidence that humans are in fact omnivores, because he doesn't want to believe it.

Bolding mine.

Brickette, you are the walking embodiment of 100% pure, distilled and filtered argument from ignorance. No wonder you do so much confused falling.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Which showed?
I would say which showed personal opinions.
They never showed that man can deal with saturated fats
cholesterol and toxins.
The clear evidence is for all to see.
Hospitals, rehab. centers, nursing home and jails are full of
sick people with diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, dementia,
Alzheimer, Parkinson diseases.
All these sick people eat a non veg. diet and all of them showed
that their arteries are clogged with cholesterol.
There are a lot of people around that keep on coming up with
hypothesis.
most of these hypothesis are none but mental masturbation.
Tell these denialists to go and check the arteries of dead people
(meat eater) and see what clogged them up

Quote:I'm a vegetarian and so are my husband and a couple of real life friends. Are we rednecks because we don't insist that humans aren't designed to eat meat?

There is a difference between insisting and non insisting.
If you insist that something work in this or that way without
having the evidence or without caring to collect evidence then
you are a redneck.
If instead you don't insist or you don't really care then you may
belong to the silent majority which may be driven by a shepherd
wherever he likes.
If on the other hand you believe in good faith that what is said
on the net or on any other source without caring to find out the truth
then you may be a gullible and naive person.
The choices are many as you can see. Wink Shades

Quote:None of the atheists here are likely to take you seriously when you say you get information through intuition.

Intuition help a lot in getting the correct information and the
physical evidence help also a lot.
If you then combined the two you can be sure that you are correct.
I worked in rehab. centers, nursing homes and hospitals so i got the
correct evidence unlike the professional mental masturbators
which create hypothesis after hypothesis without a rag of evidence. Smile

Here we got some interesting evidence that meat is dung.

http://www.pcrm.org/health/health-topics...rt-disease

The US army look so well after his soldiers that they all get sick by eating
meat.

When battlefield casualties were examined during the Korean and Vietnam wars, American soldiers had significant atherosclerosis at only 18 or 20 years of age. Their Asian counterparts, raised on a diet consisting mainly of rice and vegetables, had much healthier arteries.

Furthermore it say..........Since our bodies make plenty of cholesterol for our needs, we do not need to add any in our diet. Cholesterol is found in all foods that come from animals: red meat, poultry, fish, eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, and every other meat and dairy product. Choosing lean cuts of meat is not enough; the cholesterol is mainly in the lean portion. Many people are surprised to learn that chicken contains as much cholesterol as beef. Every four-ounce serving of beef or chicken contains 100 milligrams of cholesterol. Also, most shellfish are very high in cholesterol. All animal products should be avoided for this reason. No foods from plants contain cholesterol.

And then............In the leanest cuts of beef, about 30 percent of the calories come from fat. Skinless chicken is nearly as high, at 23 percent. Even without the skin, chicken is never truly a low-fat food. Most cheeses contain 60 to 80 percent of calories from fat, and premium ice creams often contain 45 to 65 percent of calories from fat. Butter, margarine, and oils of all types are typically 95 to 100 percent of calories from fat. Grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits, however, have comfortably less than 10 percent of their calories coming from fat.

So what is the difference between a denialist and a redneck?
Uhmmm, this is a very difficult question but i would say that both of them are idiots. Smile

They show that humans evolved to eat animals living as nature intended. They also show that modern humans in Western style societies aren't living as nature intended, either.

I have spent many hours collecting evidence showing the kind of meat that humans evolved to eat. Animals living in the wild have natural diets and aren't full of growth hormones and antibiotics etc.

Hunter Gatherer Diets - A Different Perspective

Quote:Data on modern-day hunter-gatherers as well as hunter-gatherer-agriculturalists who consumed traditional diets indicate that such societies are largely free of diseases of civilization regardless of whether a high percentage of dietary energy is supplied by wild animal foods (eg, in Canadian Eskimos), wild plant foods (eg, in the !Kung), or domesticated plant foods taken primarily from a single cultivar (eg, in the Yanomamo) (7–11).

What I really care about is rednecks like yourself using pseudo-science to promote vegetarianism. It gives the impression that all vegetarians and vegans are raving lunatics.

Well, I could go by the bizarre subjective experiences that my brain sometimes throws up. The Earth is a Goddess, I was once a Roman legionary stationed on Hadrian's Wall, there's a mysterious disembodied being at Wigmore Castle on the Welsh Border and the ghost of a man at arms said hello to me at Chepstow Castle. If I ever get a flashback to a life in Paleolithic times I'll let you know what I had for dinner. TongueTongue

Note how it says mainly, not exclusively. The Asian people weren't eating meat produced by Western methods, either.

This isn't the type of beef or chicken that hunter gatherers in the past were eating. How do you explain the findings that hunter gatherers eating traditional diets are largely free of the diseases of civilization?

But others are saying that grains are bad for us and we shouldn't be eating them. There's even articles on the internet saying that beans are bad for us as well.

PS: From that article you posted

Ananda Marga Diet

Quote:You can get more than enough protein and other essential nutrients by eating a balanced vegetarian diet of fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, dairy products, nuts and seeds.

If you go by that article you posted you have to accept that the Ananda Marga organisation is misleading you when it comes to dairy products because it doesn't ban them. You can't have it both ways.

Just to complicate the issue still further there's an article on Patient Co UK

Quote:Patient.co.uk is the UK’s leading independent health site, established for over 15 years. With more than 16 million visits a month, it is a trusted source of information for both patients and health professionals nationwide.

The site contains over 4000 health information leaflets, a wellbeing centre, a free health check, and thousands of discussion forums. It is accredited by The Information Standard, NHS England’s quality mark and was listed as ‘The top health website you can’t live without’ by The Times newspaper (Jan 2013).

It has an article about the Health Benefits Of The Meditteranean Diet

Quote:The Mediterranean Diet has certain types and amounts of food. If eaten for a number of years, it has been shown to reduce the risks of developing heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure (hypertension), type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. Following the diet has also been linked with a reduced risk of early death and has proved a successful strategy for healthy weight reduction. You don't need any particular cooking skills to produce inexpensive, delicious, meals fitting the Mediterranean Diet.

So what are the magic ingredients in this diet?

Quote:The 'ideal' (in terms of health-giving effects) Mediterranean Diet has, in relation to a typical Western diet:

High quantities of: a variety of vegetables, a variety of fruit, legumes (eg, beans), cereals and cereal products.
Moderate quantities of: fish, white meats, nuts, low-fat dairy produce, wine (men: 1-3 units per day, women: 1-2 units per day) with meals.
Low quantities of: red meat, eggs, sweets and sweet desserts.
A high mono-unsaturated fat (eg, olive oil) to saturated animal fat (eg, fatty red meat) ratio - at least 2:1.

Low amounts of added salt - in many cases, herbs can be used for flavouring in place of excess salt.

Needless to say, there are other articles on the internet saying that the Mediterranean diet is rubbish. So, if you believe everything you read in the media about diets it's probably best to give up eating altogether because all food is bad for you. Tongue

Why not use common sense? Studies of hunter gatherers eating traditional diets (including meat) have shown that they are largely free of the diseases of civilisation. The Asian populations in Korea and Vietnam, even though they still ate some meat, were healthier than American soldiers. What does this say about Western style civilisation and the modern American diet which has spread around the world?

I've done some family history research and discovered that many of my ancestors survived to a good old age even though they ate all the basic foods that are supposed to be bad for us now. Why? It's because they lived at a time when there was no factory farming and modern processed foods full of who knows what hadn't been invented. They weren't privileged middle class people either because they were farm labourers or working class folk living in the poorer areas of towns. Even the old relatives who lived in the 20th century had stuck to the food they knew so didn't stuff themselves with Big Macs and other junk food.

It's impossible to go back to the world our remote ancestors lived in and how many of us would want to? After all, they died from injuries and diseases which people survive today with the aid of modern medical treatment. They didn't have to worry about air and soil pollution or plants and fruit contaminated with pesticides, though.

These days it makes sense to be a vegetarian for ethics, health and environmental issues.
