It's an open accusation of Catholicism, which every time I've attacked them over it, they've successfully defended. What we're speaking of here is the incorrect interpretation of some individuals. It's not a grey area. The Christian position on it is quite clear.

I did not say the Christian possition... It is quite clear on what they interpret (on this one issue anyhow) Im talking about what the book says.
Did I make a good point? thumbs up Smile I cant help it I'm a Kudos whore. P.S. Jesus is a MYTH.

That is exactly what it is, paganism. I got that the first day I visited their church. They preach a gospel of prosperity etc. and they tell their idiotic followers to have faith in god and give up vast sums of money if they want to receive greater amounts of blessings from god in the form of material wealth. That is nothing, awhile back I mentioned in another forum that there was a man preaching that he was the Jesus Christ on Earth. He is from Puerto Rico and has a huge following. He is preaching that 666 is the perfect number of god and so these asses are running around tattooing 666 on their bodies. He also smokes and drinks openly and has even admitted to using drugs and has made public his love for cocaine. His congregation laughs and continues to believe in him and support him with huge sums of money and even expensive gifts such as cars, houses, and properties. Here is a video from youtube in English.

Er....isn't that a Ponzi scheme? Perhaps we should invoke the RICO statutes on these holy fraudsters?

That is what the book says.

Quote: 4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them

Where does it say about wearing or owning a crucifix?

First you have to prove that a crucifix is an idol. ie something that you worship. Money can be an idol. Infatuation can be an idol.

Thing about wearing crucifixes is it's in yer face I'm a believer.
I think it should be mirrored by those who favour capital punishment wearing needles, electric chairs, guillotines, nooses...have I missed any?
Oh, and atheists should be wearing...what????
HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

RE: Dear Christians
I knew Christians in both protestant and catholic circles who venerate the cross and believe that it holds some kind of divine power. I have known hard core catholics to always have an open bible in their home, the belief being that it would ward off evil. All of these things when used in the ways just described are idols. The exorcist priest casting out demons and waving his cross in the face of the possessed is idolizing the cross as well. You may argue that it is just a reminder to Satan of the sacrifice of Christ, but trust me if that did happen, the devil does not need to be constantly reminded. If the sacrifice of Christ was such a devastating victory I don't think that Satan would easily forget that, unless Satan suffers from Alzheimers.

When I was in the church a minister asked me why I wore a cross and I could not answer him, he then asked me if Christ died on the electric chair would you wear the image of an electric chair around your neck? From that day forward I never wore a cross again, and I made sure when I preached my sermons, that my hearers knew that it was not the cross but he who died on the cross that we should venerate and follow.

It does! It scares away vampires! Haven't you ever seen a Dracula movie?
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?
