I really didn't come in here to bash soccer though. I really like the world cup, and I look forward to the next one.
Don't they to this in NBA too? Pushing the opponent's contact to get a foul? It's not soccer exclusive... I look forward to the european championship in 2 years
And football may not be composed solely on the best players, that's logical, but those are the ones who give the sport a name worldwide, like Michael Jordan or Bryant give reputation to basketball

Yes Nba definitely does this, which is also why I only watch during the finals, and Bulls games.
Ronaldo is considered the best player, right? Or at least one of them? And he was the biggest whiner I saw in this world cup.
NFL doesn't really have rules that are conducive to flopping, which is a major plus. Flopping in soccer can give a big advantage, so it only makes sense for the players to do it. I just don't like watching them drop and roll around for a free kick.

Ronald is currently the best player with all merit, and yes he is one of the few best players that unfortunately likes whining too much, but that doesn't define him entirely as a player. You won't see Messi doing that often, for instance. It doesn't mean he won't flop, but not so often. And Ronaldo's whining in the world cup won't change his status as the world's best player

Christiano Ronaldo is my favourite soccer player. He is a former Manchester United player and I'm greatful for his contributions there. We did miss him when he left.
For the longest time I was a Messi hater for the sake of Ronaldo. Eventually the little maestro's brilliance won. Compared to Ronaldo, Messi is the player you'd pick. He is a consistent player who actually performs in the big games. I turned a blind eye to this for a long time. Ronaldo has just let down too many times in big matches. He virtually becomes anonymous! I used to manufacture excuse after excuse for this. Eventually I grew tired. Coming out of England, yes he was the best, but in Spain Messi is king. Ronaldo rips apart smaller teams. He's a small team killer. Messi is a killer period.
Ronaldo works harder than Messi sure. But like I said, the man for the big occasion is Lionel Messi. It was such a pitty he couldn't solidify his status permanently by winning the world cup.
In the champions league final played on Portugues soil, he was a non feature. His contribution was a lame penalty kick that nearly got saved. The only highlight worthy Ronaldo moment was his over the top celebration for an unnecessary penalty.
I forget the name of the company that did the valuation of player costs. Messi was the most expensive player in the world at double the cost of Ronaldo. Luis Suarez was voted third.
Ronaldo is the ballon d'or holder only in name. The better player will always be Messi. Let's not forget he at least has world cup finalist to his resume and player of the tournament. Messi keeps collecting accolades.

You're right, but does happen occasionally. I'm a Bengals fan so this really pissed me off. As blatant as you'll see in any sport.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqS5U4lSSVg Lmao yea that's embarrassingly bad. Now when we start seeing that ten times a game we can start making the comparison.

Messi is the better player purely because he is a better team player - the most successful sides are the ones that work together the best, not revolve around some star player (look at Brazil, they fell apart without Neymar).

He might be more of a team player (although Ronaldo got more assists than Messi last season) but he's not a better player. He has nowhere near as much in his locker as what Ronaldo does. Ronaldo scores headers, free kicks, 40 yard screamers. Messi doesn't really do any of these. Besides, Ronaldo is a supreme athlete. He's built like a fucking action figure. He's stronger, faster, can jump higher. His all round game is much better than Messi's.
It's funny you say that the most successful sides are ones that work together and not built around one player. As if Barcelona have been dominant all these years because of anyone other that Messi? You take him out of that side and where do the goals come from? You take Ronaldo out of Real and they still have goals from Di Maria, Benzema and Bale. Barcelona is a team built around Messi. Even when Guardiola was there, he admitted his tactic was basically "get it to Messi". You see what happens when a manager like Tata Martinez tries to mess with that system. Barca basically failed last season because they tried to be more of a 'team'. Real Madrid is just a team full of superstars too, but I'd say they are just as much a 'team' than Barca are.
Another point, you put Ronaldo in any other team in the world and he'll still score 40 goals a season. You can't say the same for Messi. Again, Barca are completely built around him.
