More pendulum wave awesomeness... (gotta be patient with this one)

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Another from http://what-if.xkcd.com , this one is fascinating.
What if I took a swim in a typical spent nuclear fuel pool? Would I need to dive to actually experience a fatal amount of radiation? How long could I stay safely at the surface?

Hmmm .. this could totally work as a garden ornament, perhaps with highly reflective balls hung over a pond .. with submerged lighting to enjoy at night.

Um... if you do that I want pictures and a tour.

ETA: I wonder if it would be as resonant with bamboo pipes instead of steel ones?

Yeah I don't have room for it but there is a gallery of gardens in Sonoma called Cornerstone where this would totally work. Maybe I'll propose it to one of my garden design buddies and see what they think.

This got me thinking if there is a way to use a number of different foucault's pendulums of different frequencies to have the pendulum wave show the current time with its number of nodes as the pendulums swing plane pivots with the rotation of the earth.

That would be incredibly cool! Although, it would be really difficult to read/visualize, seeing as though they'd have to be far enough apart so they don't interfere with each other.

You can sight down a straight row of pendulums for the pendulum wave even if the pendulums are far apart, and the nodes in the pendulum wave doesn't have to occur in a striaght line.
