Honestly, that motive makes a lot more sense than many real-life killings. Hell, on my nightstand, among a few other books, is one where the hero kills an old woman mostly to test his own personal ideology (not to go into all the MANY other crazy killings in Dostoevsky). One of my favourite comedies has a neighbourhood watch association that kills people for reasons as trivial as having an eyesore of a house, poor proofreading skills, or even an irritating laugh. I've related a true story in one of my columns where a man tried to kill his son over a bacon sandwich; of course, they were Glaswegian, so random outbursts are probably to be expected.
