RE: Seriously
Some have it, some don't. I don't appreciate incredibly awkward humor, and don't appreciate the tropes most sitcoms promote. I hate shows like "New Girl" and "How I Met Your Mother" with a passion, which is sad, because I actually like Zooey Deschanel as a person, and love Neil Patrick Harris.

I admit that i've watched 2 1/2 men. That's almost a who's who of problematic tropes, but I sometimes found it quite funny, with very good writing from time to time.

I have to equally admit that I hated that one too. I think what bothers me about it is that everyone always stays the same in sitcoms. No one ever learns anything or changes.

That's not entirely true. Sheen's character in 2 1/2 in the beginning of season 1 is completely cynical and hates that the kid is in his house. He has significant character development as they develop a close relationship over the years. His brother develops more self-esteem over time.

Sometimes I think Lorre is using his shows as therapy. I stopped watching big bang theory because it became depressing, unfunny, and some characters just had weird fluctuations, suddenly becoming annoying.

Wrong forum

You seriously need to visit a forum that discusses scientific ideas rather than philosophical ones. Religion and non religion have nothing to do with that subject.

Enjoy your trip

I cannot believe in anything just because someone says so... and that goes both ways - both by religions and by nonbelievers. For someone to say there must be a God, for how else can we explain the existence of the universe.... or for someone to say there cannot be a God because we cannot prove the existence of such a God... are equally unacceptable! These are just opposite "view points" but with no real substance. I hope by joining this forum that I can have some proper discussions and ideas/feedback from people who are open-minded and serious.

First of all Welcome

But, I don't think the answers to the big questions in life are to be found on any website.

Few if any people on this site will argue that there cannot be a god. What most of us will tell you is that there is little or no evidence of god. Further, the god posited by most theists is not falsifiable. Therefore god is not a useful hypothesis.

That god is highly unlikely, is hardly an answer. It's merely a dismissal of religious answers. In that you are quite correct.

That leaves those of a rational mind with responsibility for making their own meaning in life. Notice I did not say "the" mean of life. You are responsible for finding your own meaning. There are no intellectually honest shortcuts.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
