Must see film about prop 8.

Man im gonna have to watch that especially since I used to be Mormon. We need full disclosure as to where they spend their money.
This is so much more than a story about money and politics.
This film shows that it is really a life and death struggle against the LDS Church for some young gay men and women. But I think it needs to go beyond auditing LDS funding. I think they need to be stripped of their tax exempt status. RE: Must see film about prop 8.

But all they want to see is how there money goes to charities local and foreign as well as towards missionary work and building temples. Full disclosure.
I definitely agree with you by the way.
This is something I'm going to tell other people about.
Here's a site you might find interesting, Spencer. http://www.exmormon.org/
I'm really shitty at giving kudos and rep. That's because I would be inconsistent in remembering to do them, and also I don't really want it to show if any favouritism is happening. Even worse would be inconsistencies causing false favouritisms to show. So, fuck it. Just assume that I've given you some good rep and a number of kudos, and everyone should be happy...

Quote:But I think it needs to go beyond auditing LDS funding. I think they need to be stripped of their tax exempt status. Indeed,as do all religious organistations.Their registered charities could remain tax exempt as long as they were subject to independent auditing. I have no problem with feeding the poor and all the other good things many religious charities do. However, I have a big problem with tax free dollars being used to build churches and religious schools and to promote their beliefs in any way. I'm reasonably aware of LDS history, and have tried to reed their loopy book several times. It reads exactly as one would expect: The rantings of a semi literate C19th ignoramus who has read little besides the bible (hence the archaic literary style). The absurd Laminite theory was not invented by Joe Smith, but was a not uncommon belief in the C19th. As was the view that black people were not 'really' human. The book of Mormon was first published in 1830,whilst slavery was still very much alive throughout the US. Like religious books everywhere, the Book Of Mormon reflects the values and prejudices of the writer, his culture and his times.. Want to upset a Mormon? Ask it about 'The Mountain Meadow Massacre'. Just finished watching this.. Floored, absolutely agree they need to have their tax exempt status taken away. The site i used to admin was LDStalk.com but has moved to http://www.lds.net/forums/ i have a profile there with close to 1500 posts.. Man thinking back who i was there and who i am now... so glad I started thinking for myself.. not sure how long it will last but I started this thread. If it is anything like it was when I was the admin, it will be removed... http://www.lds.net/forums/general-discus...post522969 RE: Must see film about prop 8.
