I think Min is right, again. Complete waste of effort here.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you... the meaning of life!

You really need to read the last post I made in response to you at the bottom of page six. I've already addressed the point on proof and science.
Whatever point you made about proof is irrelevant. Science is a process based on empirical evidence and even the wildest unproven hypothosis made by scientists have basis in things that can actually be proven. Just because you can sit there and cover your ears and go LALALALALALA until a scientist gets tired of you and stops talking doesn't mean the proof is less real or that believing that scientist is the equivelent of believing in a preacher or pastor.

(August 9, 2010 at 5:26 am)Edward the Theist Wrote: It's about atheists who go around proudly boasting that "science is the only truth!" When the opinions of scientists change with each and every journal article. No one agrees on anything in the wonderful world of "science." Besides, all science is anymore is grant proposals and what they can get the government to sponsor so it will pay their salaries. Trust me, "science" can't afford to search for truth. "Science" searches for whatever results ensure more grant money. Period. If you have the money, you can get the science.
You're clearly confusing science and scientology. The former is the pursuit of truth. The latter is the pursuit of money.
Science gets money because science gets results and unfortunately, it takes money to do research. You don't do science to roll in cash - you get cash because you can do research to get results. This is becaus science can get results and benefit society in ways that few other things can.

(August 9, 2010 at 5:26 am)Edward the Theist Wrote: You go around beating up on the Christian god, and it makes you look stupid. Of course that god doesn't exist. How long are atheists going to keep banging that drum? Until there's no Christian Church? Great, good luck with that. I criticize atheists for not having a definition of that which they don't believe in and you come across in response with a five-year-old's concrete cognition about the blue of the sky . And you still want me to think you're intellectual? You might as well be burning atheist prayer candles.
You're missing the point. Atheists don't reject a version of god they define themselves - they reject the god of all faiths and religions. If you're going to accuse us of being stupid, then you can at least read adn respond to the responses we make in regard to this because otherwise, you're making more baseless assumptions about atheism and the things we believe in as a group.

(August 9, 2010 at 5:26 am)Edward the Theist Wrote: You say you don't believe in God. What pray tell is this God you don't believe in? Define it. I'll bet you can't. I'll be no one in here can. I'll be no one in here thinks past the concept of the Sunday School god when they think about that which they don't believe in.
We told you - we don't believe in any god or gods. I and others have told you this numberous times. You need to listen to what we're saying. I've already even addressed this point, but you keep going on with your baseless assumptions.

(August 9, 2010 at 5:26 am)Edward the Theist Wrote: I've said it before; I'll say it agian, your intellect, anyone's intellect, is defined by that which they are superior to. If all you got is a disbelief in the Christian god and nothing in its place, you're just one notch up from the toothless hillbilly stompin-and-a-praisin in the First Church of the Third Revelation.
That's assinine. I didn't become an atheist to have a superiority complex. I became an atheist because I think it has the most honest outlook that doesn't require blind faith to understand the truth as per the fantasies concocted by man.
Stop confusing atheism with another form of theism because it only highlights your utter ignorance of atheism.

No, you're right. You don't have to define it to state you don't believe in it but that simply defines ignorance, doesn't it. Consider the statement: "God, I don't know what God is, but I don't believe in it." and compare it to, "God, I don't know what it is, but I believe in it." They both have the same level of ignorance associated with them.

You say you don't believe in God. Fine. Then I have every right to ask you what God is and you should be able to say.

God is simply a supreme deity that people believe in. Atheists don't believe that a supreme deity controls their lives.

Now I have ya!

Ed, the name tatisfer belongs to a being far greater in power than god, now you already lack belief in this being, so by your logic you should be able to say what a tatisfer is?

Oh how faultly logic can be so easily turned around. Tongue
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Oh, so you're really anti-religious, not so much anti-God. Well, that's what I thought, but then I keep being told I don't understand atheists. I have a feeling if I said atheists don't believe in God, I'd be told I don't understand atheists.

Well, this is what I think about it: Atheists like to say I don't understand atheism because it's their first line of defense. You can't hit a moving target, so just keep moving the definition of atheism around.
