Fallout 3 wasn't a bad game. But the main story had three or four rather short missions if I'm not mistaken.
I always do every possible mission, so I wouldn't know.
Actually, the more I think about it, the more I remember neat stuff about F3. I think it had that fracking auto-leveling system, though, where tougher mobs show up as you level up, to keep you "challenged," just like they did with the Elder Scrolls before Skyrim.
