What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?

Muslims in Pakistan are so sexually repressed that some people have to lock their daughter's graves to protect them from sexual violence.

Quote:Fifteen-year-old Zainab, daughter of Muhammad Munir, died of electrocution a day before and was buried by the family Tuesday night.

Local residents found her body lying outside the grave early Wednesday morning and informed the family and the police.

The police suspected that the body was taken out from the grave with the intention of rape.

Past necrophilia cases

October 2011: Mohammad Riaz, arrested in North Nazimabad, Karachi confessed to having defiled the corpses of 48 women in the Paposh Nagar graveyard in the last eight years.

September 2011: A father and son were arrested after they exhumed and desecrated the body of a woman from the the Pir Koray Shah graveyard in Karampur.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Not quite extinct. You can still find them in some other countries, particularly in nations like Burma or Thailand, (where they’re exported to China and Japan). If not there, you might be able to find some if you have good fruit connections (apparently, a few are even grown in Florida), are willing to pay far out the ass for them (ironic, given how Cavendish bananas are usually so cheap in stores), and know what other nations tend to call them.

I haven't studied the various banana strains, but the ones I had in Costa Rica seemed like a completely different fruit.

I think whoever installed this security measure is not quite clear about what has happened and what the future might look like, for they installed a locked gate, as if they intended for the gate to be opened at some time in the future.

one would think pouring concrete over the grave will ensure security from necrophilia better at lower cost.

You know, the funny thing is, Frank Reynolds had a damn good point about necrophilia.

As gross as it is, let’s face it, it’s not like the other person in question is ever going to use that body ever again. It’d be like selling my Mum’s old Jane Austen books and finding out that the person who bought them used the pages as toilet paper.

But I wouldn't like it if someone used my dead mom's favorite book for toilet paper, especially if it wasn't an emergency. Sur my mom can't complain, but it's not really about her, it's about me.

Full disclosure, Jane Austen was my mother's favourite author, but to me, she was just that boring author that my narcissistic mother wouldn't shut the fuck up about.

More that they were the first big customer, really. Though they were inspired by the use of a very similar British candy in the Spanish Civil War.
