The notion that 20% of the new cars will actually get new license plates through the lottery depends on not just the new car buyers, but every last one of 1.4 billion people (infants included) in China entering the license plate lottery each year,  and then 0.3% who wins the lottery somehow transferring the plates to the actual buyers of the new car.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The suicide note of George Eastman, founder of Eastman Kodak, read: “to my friends, my work is done, why wait?”

That I don't like the ham salad from the local grocery store.

Actually, I knew that already, forgot it, and was reminded today. Damn it.

I learned two things yesterday.

1. Make a backup of anything you see in your computer systems you would be very pissed off if you lost.
2. Before you pay for assistance, (which fortunately I didn't do), use a simple air puff/blast from an air can to blow the dust out of a UBS drive.
Better yet, use the damn caps on your UBS drives. Doh.

It’s just amazing how many thing work better once they get blown.

I’ll let myself out.
