What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
When I was quite young, I was staying for a week at my grandparent's house.
There was a thunderstorm one of the nights, and here comes a small ball of lightning, burning through the wall, about the size of a grapefruit.
It didn't "strike" anyone, but it did cause a fire.

Scared the shit out of me.
Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble. - Joseph Campbell  Popcorn

When James Mason died he left all his money to his 2nd wife, and when she died she left all his money and house to Sai Baba.

Ah, those humble god's men who are here to save us from the evil that is materialism.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Ramen is considered a Japanese dish, which is why Chinese restaurants don't have it on their menus.

The Chinese have lo mein and chow fun, which are similar.

Quote:Ramen became popular in China where it is known as rìshì lāmiàn (日式拉麵, lit. 'Japanese-style lamian'). Restaurant chains serve ramen alongside distinctly Japanese dishes, such as tempura and yakitori. Interestingly, in Japan, these dishes are not traditionally served with ramen, but gyoza, kara-age and others from Japanese Chinese cuisine.

In Korea, ramen is called ramyeon (라면 / 拉麵). There are different varieties, such as kimchi-flavored ramyeon. While usually served with egg or vegetables such as carrots and scallions, some restaurants serve variations of ramyeon containing additional ingredients such as dumplings, tteok, or cheese as toppings.

Only about 10% of lightning strikes diretcly on humans will prove fatal.    Despite being basically bags of salty water by mass, humans manage to pollute the salty water with enough junk such that they are really shitty conductors.     Consequently even when lightning finds them,  most of the bolt of several tens of thousands amps find it easier to ionize the air around the humans and then pass through the air just outside the human than go through the inside of the human,   the net result is 9 out 10 humans in the paths of lightning bolt escape their comeuppance.

That’s also why it is not uncommon for human to survive a lightning strike but have most of their cloth and particularly their shoes blown off of their bodies.
