What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
NASA has a panel of about 25 people that smell all items that will be sent to the ISS

(Because astronauts are in a 'closed loop' environment, bad or toxic smells can be a real problem)
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Computer generated randomness is no where near real randomness.

Tom Clancey outted a trick the CIA uses. Cosmic ray patterns, CMBE. Wildly random.

That is why, for true randomness, you need something outside the circuitry of the computer. Cosmic rays, radioactive decay, *something* that allows for actual randomness as opposed to pseudo-randomness.

Pollen is produced by the male flower. So, in essence, you might be allergic to men.

There are no naturally occurring processes that produce new gold

Stars aren't naturally occurring processes.

I taught at a Waldorf school for two years because I had found little else for gainful employment for school years '94-'96. There was a line in some of the literature about how humans were gold and silver, since those elements were made in stars. Yet the senior teachers said not to talk about how the local sun was intensely radioactive, and that it just provided warmth. I will say that a lot of what they did made sense, but then a lot of it was complete bullshit.

You forgot the qualifier “on earth”.

But even that qualifier may not be enough to make the statement strictly true, because there are laboratory processes which bombard atoms of mercury or another nearby element with neutrons to create atoms of gold, and such process can conceivably be replicated in nature, albeit under rare circumstances.

Oh, brother. Go calculate the amount of gold transmuted by neutron bombardment, based on the cross section for neutron absorption. Integrate it over the universe and get back to us.
