Yep, that's how the law works; you can't discriminate over a product you don't sell. There's actually been some legal precedent on that issue fairly recently; a conservative dude wanted to prove that LGBTQ friendly folks were hypocrites, so he went to a bakery that advertises as such and asked them to bake a cake covered in homophobic slurs and insults, expecting that when they refused he could have his whole "aha!" moment. They did refuse, he sued, and he got his case dismissed under the very same logic as I suggested to you: the bakery wasn't in the business of making hate-speech cakes, it wasn't a service they offered to any group, and so they were not discriminating by refusing to bake the cake for this particular christian purpose.
Understanding the law is the first step to keeping on the right side of it; it's not focusing on certain beliefs, just certain practices, and it's motivation agnostic in doing so.
