God could lie and make you believe he doesn't, right?
If god was going to lie to you, would he tell you he's lying? Or would he lie to you and tell you he isn't?
Yes, exactly. But also:
Jeremiah 4:
10 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.
Ezekiel 14:
9 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
2 Thessalonians 2:
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
We could also examine particular lies, for example, in the garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve don't die when they eat of the tree of knowledge, but instead gain knowledge. Which is what satan tells them will happen. In other words, God is a liar, and satan is honest in that story.
I won't bother with any more examples, as we all know that the religionists will twist everything from its ordinary meaning in an attempt to force the story to fit their views of how it should be.
"A wise man ... proportions his belief to the evidence."
