Regardless of your feelings about the NPR, they perform the necessary good of being an impartial source of news in our society (1). Just because you've been trained by Fox News & their ilk to shout out & shut down in any fashion possible anything that does not fit within your limited worldview does not mean that they are in any way breaking the law or their charter. BTW, Washington has very, very little to do with NPR, any grants received directly by the NPR are state grants. (2) However, a whopping 15% of funding for individual stations does come from federal CBP grants which have the following guidelines:
1. Open meetings
2. Open financial records
3. Community advisory board
4. Equal employment opportunity
5. Donor list and political activities
I'm sure the bible thumpers & neo-cons would happily tear down the entire CPB to "hurt" the NPR regardless of the fallout, but thankfully we actually have rules about these things to make sure that doesn't happen.
In your rush to take us back to the bronze age, you may want to try actually researching things you want to rant about, otherwise you just seem ignorant.
