I guess I'm curious if "atheist spirituality" is a thing. Not all religions have a god. I was thrown for a loop when I read that Sam Harris practiced some form of zen meditation.I thought "isn't that Buddhism or something"?
Zen is a system that uses meditation, focus, and thought exercises to learn/integrate a practice or concept into one's brain. Zen Buddhism uses the system of Zen to teach and learn Buddhism, but Zen principles have between integrated into various fields of study and practice (not just of religion).
Basically, Zen is more intellectual than spiritual. It's an approach to making the brain absorb and understand information.
