During the Archean Eon,earth's atmosphere was a global haze. http://forces.si.edu/atmosphere/02_02_01.html. Then it clear sufficiently for light to reach earth's surface.

snowtracks Wrote:the story comports with science that's why we know scripture is true. No, the story does not 'comport with science.' It's ambiguous enough to allow people like you to come up with some pretty imaginative interpretations, but the way that those interpretations always seem to track with science --instead of the other way around-- shows that it's not your book that has it right.
snowtracks Wrote:Scripture stated millenniums before science proved, yes proof, (Hawking-Penrose theorem) that the universe had a beginning; even 100 years-ago the prevailing notion was the universe was eternal.Scripture also stated that the sky was a canvas stretched across the flat circle of the world by a supernatural being, centuries before science proved that it was a fairy tale.
snowtracks Wrote:The first chapter of Genesis gives an accurate summation of the preparation and creation of mankind (6 long but finite periods of time). And then the second chapter gives a completely different summation of the creation account, with at least a handful of contradictions.
Gen 2 starts with a ref. to when God shaped the earth and the heavens but from that point forward, it begins to elaborate on the ‘why’ or ‘purpose’ of creation. The perspective changes from Gen 1 - the observer described from a vantage point above the earth’s surface, but below the clouds - whereas; Gen 2 perspective is from a small portion of Earth’s surface (Eden), from the vantage point of the first human. In Gen 2, four rivers are mentioned (Tigris, Euphrates, Gibon, Pishon), The one location where these rivers could have come together is now the Persian Gulf*. Gen 1 is the only summary. Other ref’s give creation details**

Atheist Credo: A universe by chance that also just happened to admit the observer by chance.
